Booking with travel agencies back home can often lead you to booking a tour where you will only see the main tourist destinations of the country you have traveled to. Although we agree that seeing the popular attractions is important, the true joy in a trip can often come in seeing one of the many less known (and deserted) historical sites, eating a traditional lunch prepared by a local family, hitting one of the local spots for a drink or exploring a quaint town you would have otherwise never seen.
